Cask Conditioned or Real Ale has seen a resurgence in recent times, before big breweries local landlords would often brew and condition their own ale. Times change (Legislation) or more importantly people change, the introduction of “Foreign beers” which offers more choice and variety for the customer saw a reduction of real ale. With the emergence of big breweries and pub property companies has seen a reduction in choice for the “pub goer” At the Lion we are now a free house, this means we have the freedom and flexibility to shop around and bring in some real ales from around the country, we will always try and have a fine mix of local, national and regional and micro brewers.
